Personal Development Plan
Getting What I Want

Section One

Welcome to your Free Personal Development Plan: Section One

In this first section you will spend your time gaining an overview of your current life and lifestyle and determine which areas you are most happy with and those that you are least happy with.

To do this, take the first three pages of your journal and give each page a title: Happy, Okay (as in ‘could be better, could be worse’) and Unhappy. Each of these headings indicates your current performance or status. Next, brainstorm aspects or areas of your life and write each entry in your journal on the corresponding page (Happy, Okay, Unhappy). The categories can be as broad or as specific as you want to make them. For example, one of your areas may be ‘Work’ while another may be ‘My ability to make Spanish omelet.’ Some other examples to get you started may be your physical fitness, your relationships, your financial situation and maybe your spiritual awareness.

Remember to be honest with yourself as you complete this exercise. There is no need to try and fool yourself here. The more honest you are in your appraisal, the more the program will benefit you.

Take your time completing the task and make any revisions that you deem necessary. If, as you stop to identify a particular area, you find your mind dwelling on it and considering it in more detail, that is fine and this is the mental reaction you are looking for. You will return to your notes in more detail in the next section to further develop your thoughts and feelings.

When you are happy with your brainstormed list you are ready to move onto Section Two.
