Jan Ruhe

A Personal Interview

Network Marketing Lifestyles magazine described Jan Ruhe as being ‘one of the industry’s most beloved and well-known authors, speakers and trainers around the world’. She has just published her new book, It’s About Time, and agreed to talk with me about herself and her new title. Jan has traveled around the world spreading her message that incredible wealth (she’s a multi-millionaire) can be had by anyone willing to take specific steps and work hard to achieve financial freedom. Jan first began network marketing in 1980 following a childhood in Texas. She got her first taste of sales with a cosmetics company but found her first real success selling educational items. She credits her success not only to her sales skills, but also to her ability to lead, train and inspire others to achieve, thereby building a successful network.

Happily married and a mother of three, Jan Ruhe serves as a positive role-model for all those interested in personal development and attaining financial independence.

PDF - How did you come to write your new book?

Jan Ruhe - In 2007, I was told by my husband's cardiologist that my husband Bill needed a heart transplant and that I should airlift him, Bill, from Aspen, CO to Houston, Texas to the Texas Heart Institute. Bill had immediate open heart surgery for 10 hours and while I was waiting for the surgeon to call me, my daughter Ashley was with me and I looked at her all grown up and I thought about my 18 years of marriage to Bill and what would I do without him. I thought about what was really important after all of my accomplishments, awards and accolades in Network Marketing that I had worked so hard for....none of that mattered any more. What mattered most to me is spending time with my children and husband and close friend’s; creating memories together through spending time together. So, at the end of the day....the most important thing to me is time. I thought maybe I could influence others to take the time for those you cherish. Take the time for that which at the end of the day matters. You can always get more money, but you can't get more time. While Bill recovered, I had plenty of time to look after him as well as put together a book filled with powerful thoughts, stories, ideas, quotes and so much more for those who realize that our life TIME is what matters most. By the way, Bill is doing fine and it's been almost a year now since the operation. He did not need a new heart. Thank goodness we have more time together now.

PDF - Why is time management so important in today's world?

Jan Ruhe - Time management is truly SELF-Management. There is so much to do yet those who are at the top all have the same 24 hours as everyone else. You must be come a manager of moments so you have more time in the rest of your life to enjoy yourself with prosperity and abundance.

PDF - Why do you think people can develop bad time management skills and what can be done to correct those habits?

Jan Ruhe - If you don't have clarity in your dreams and goals, procrastination naturally sets in. Habits can be broken in a heartbeat. Just get clear on what you want out of this one precious life and go after it like your future depends upon it, because as a matter of fact, it probably does.

PDF - What is one thing a reader can do right now to improve his or her time management skills?

Jan Ruhe - Stop wasting time. You and only you are in control of your time. Don't waste it. Turn off the TV, stop spending so much time chatting about nothing. Get into self-improvement, read more and turn your car into a classroom. Study that which you want to become. Study with a passion. Tic-Toc, time is not waiting for you! It's later than you think.

PDF - What do you do personally to remain successful? How do you stay motivated and how do you keep achieving?

Jan Ruhe - Since I have actually walked the walk, from getting my first recruit to building a multi-million dollar business people continue to contact me from all over the world. I have been honored to be in Network Marketing. I have actually loved nearly every day of the last 28 years of being a major part of this industry. I am motivated from within. I don't need any outside stimulus to motivate me. Personal growth and development played a huge part in who I have become. I know how to stop the negative thinking. I know how to cancel negative thoughts. Being motivated is a choice. I choose to be motivated and only surround myself with those who are motivated. I have maybe 3 more books that I want to write and then I will be finished sharing the printed word in books. I love training distributors around the world and love meeting them and seeing the fire of massive desire in Network Marketing. I am already booked for 2009 to go back to England for 11 years in a row to train over 1,000 distributors. Knowing that the top leaders in Avon in the USA are studying my books, getting orders from Australia and England and the Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland and all over the USA keeps me going. And now to have Vince reach out from Japan is so exciting. After all, it's about time that everyone achieves their dreams. I am a teacher of what is possible when you take the time to go after your dreams with unstoppable passion.
