Free Personal Development Plan
Getting What I Want

Introduction

Getting What I Want is a free personal development plan provided to readers of Personal Development Forum.

Getting What I Want will aid you in identifying specific areas of your life that you wish to improve upon and develop while providing detailed steps that will lead you towards achieving success in given areas.

This free personal development plan extends over seven sections to be completed consecutively. Each section can be completed in as little or as much time as you wish. It is recommended that rather than try and rush through everything you take your time with each section, returning as you deem necessary to review your work and development. You may find it beneficial however to read through the entire program at least once to get an overview and plan your best approach. Similarly, as you move onto each new section, read the guide in its entirety first before you begin to tackle the specific tasks. To complete each section you will need a journal (which could be electronic) and whatever time you can spare. With regard to your journal, Getting What I Want works best when you are completely open and honest with yourself, so if you are concerned about privacy, please take the necessary steps to ensure that your writing cannot be read by another person if this would be problematic for you.

Getting What I Want is not a test. There are no ‘correct’ or ‘incorrect’ answers. Each person will have had a different series of life events with the result being a different experience from the program. Approach the course with the view that you are taking a significant step towards self-discovery and growth.

Finally, remember to set yourself up to succeed. Work at a pace that suits you, when you are comfortable and able to concentrate. Listen to music if you want to or enjoy your favorite coffee, but try to ensure that the process is as pleasurable for you as possible. Learn to link pleasure to your growth and that will keep your body and mind interested and motivated to continue. Trying to work through Getting What I Want when you are tired, stressed out and unable to concentrate fully will most likely lead to you quitting the program or, at the least, not getting as much as you can out of it. So enjoy what the course for both the rewards it will bring and for the experience itself.
