Awaken the Giant Within

– Tony Robbins, Awaken the Giant Within "In order to keep your commitment, you need the best strategies for achieving results. The best strategy in almost any case is to find a role-model; someone who’s already getting the results you want..." The operative words in these quotes are, “...find a role-model; someone who’s already getting the results you want." These wise words tell the whole story. The wheel has already been invented and the fire discovered. No need to start every endeavor that we undertake from scratch. Almost everything that we undertake has already been done before. Someone has already sweated over it, perfected it and is now using it successfully. All that we need to do to acquire that wealth of knowledge and information is to emulate (copy) someone who has done it before. They key to emulation is “Transmutation through Active Imagination.” The process demonstrated in Awaken the Giant Within goes like this: First, define exactly who and what is to be emulated. It could be Tony Robbins giving a lecture, it could be Donald Trump working on a deal, it could be Arnold Schwarzenegger wanting to be the absolute best (as he did with bodybuilding) or Jane Fonda displaying enough courage to stand up against the Establishment to promote what she believed in. Second, through the use of active imagination, get into the skin and persona of the person that we want to emulate and just like a good actor, play the part out. We are no longer Louise or Bob or John, we become Tony or Donald or Arnold or Jane. If we put our mind to it, and believe in the process, we can literally transform our behavioral and thinking process to an amazing degree. However, some of us have problems with being a 'copycat'. We have such a big ego that we must put our own mark on everything that we do, we must recreate what has already been created and put our seal of approval on it. It’s almost as if we could not accept someone else’s opinion as being as good as ours. That’s a needless, ego-based barrier to expediency and efficiency and it has no room in the mind of a success-driven person. What works, works...and what does not work is useless and should be ignored.
